Before you start

  1. A number on the WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta’s system for business messaging).
    • The free WhatsApp Business app on your phone is not the same thing. BABAV looks for numbers set up in Meta Business Suite, inside a WhatsApp Business Account.
  2. A phone number that is not already in use on WhatsApp.
    • Meta will not add a number that already has a WhatsApp account, unless that account is deleted first.
    • Use a new number if you can. If you must move your current one, back up your chats first.
  3. A business portfolio in Meta Business Suite (business.facebook.com) that your Facebook login belongs to.
    • BABAV only finds WhatsApp numbers owned by businesses your Facebook login is part of.
  4. Use a normal web browser, like Safari or Chrome.
    • Connecting does not work inside the Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or Gmail apps’ built-in browser.

Connect it

  1. Set up the number in Meta first. In Meta Business Suite, Meta walks you through it: pick your business portfolio, create a WhatsApp Business Account, enter your number, type in the code Meta sends by text or call, and enter a display name (the name customers see).
  2. In BABAV, open Connections. Find the WhatsApp card. Tap Connect →.
  3. Facebook opens. Check the name shown is you.
  4. If it asks which businesses BABAV can use, tick the business that owns your WhatsApp number.
  5. Facebook lists what BABAV wants to do. Do not turn any of them off. Tap Continue or Save.
  6. Back in BABAV you see Choose your WhatsApp number. Tap your number, then Connect selected.

Display name review

Meta reviews the display name on your number. Check it says approved.

On a computer

  • In Meta Business Suite, open your WhatsApp Business Account and look at the phone number’s name status.

Change which Pages or accounts BABAV can use

Facebook only gives BABAV the Pages and Instagram accounts you ticked. If you unticked one, fix it here.

On your phone

  1. Open Facebook. Tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  3. Tap Business integrations. (Some versions put it under Your activity.)
  4. Find BABAV and tap View and edit.
  5. Tick every Page and Instagram account BABAV should use. Tap Save.

On a computer

  1. On facebook.com, click your profile picture.
  2. Click Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  3. Click Business integrations. Find BABAV and click View and edit.
  4. Tick the Pages and accounts BABAV should use. Click Save.
  5. Still missing? Click Remove next to BABAV, then connect again in BABAV and tick everything.

Did it work?

  • The WhatsApp card shows your phone number.

Fix a problem

  1. Your number may only be on the WhatsApp Business app. It needs to be on the WhatsApp Business Platform (step 1 above).
  2. Your Facebook login may not belong to the business that owns the number. Ask the owner to add you in Meta Business Suite.
  3. You may have unticked that business on the Facebook screen. Fix it in Business integrations (see “Settings to check”).

  1. The number moved or was removed in Meta while you were connecting.
  2. Check the number is still in your WhatsApp Business Account. Then tap Connect → again.

  1. BABAV’s access to WhatsApp ran out or was removed.
  2. Tap Reconnect → on the card and sign in again. You do not need to disconnect first.

  1. The “Choose your accounts” screen was left open for more than 10 minutes.
  2. Go back to Connections and tap Connect → again.

  1. Every connection your plan includes is already in use.
  2. Tap Go to Billing and add a connection. The price is prorated to today.
  3. Or disconnect a connection you no longer need, then try again.

  1. You opened BABAV inside another app, like Instagram, Facebook or Gmail. Google and Meta block connecting there.
  2. Tap the ••• menu and choose Open in browser. Or copy app.babav.co/dashboard#connections into Safari or Chrome.
  3. Log in and tap Connect → again.
